You know, I never really gave much thought to that. I guess Rocky Rococo's started here, and they were "pan-style" pizza. Other than that, I guess I was just born and raised here and whatever my first impressions of pizza were, that's what I go by.

I've also grown up in Wisconsin, and I don't think there's really anything that could be considered "Wisconsin style" when it comes to pizza. Even Rocky Rococo's is kind of a Detroit style pizza, I suppose.

Local bars around here usually offer a thin crust variant, and then there's a bunch of terrible chains.

We can definitely claim beer brats and cheese curds, though! ;)

I haven't had poutine in Canada, but I'd think the gravy would have a significant effect on that. There's a lot of variation on how one could make gravy; if it's seasoned a certain way, I imagine it could be really tasty. Same with the fries used.

I've tried poutine once, and it wasn't in Canada. It was at some sort of Irish bar in Minneapolis, where parents went during a break in our daughter's volleyball tournament.

I was leary about ordering it, seeing as though it was .. an Irish bar in Minnesota, but we were pleasantly surprised with it. It had brisket, cheese curds, and a dark brown gravy that was pretty damn good, and well seasoned.

I shall have to admit that it is not something that appealed to me so I did not try it while in Canada in 2017. I did try "real" Canadian Bacon, and I did try out Tim Horton's. I also tried out a Polish restaurant in Thunder Bay, where I had my first perogies (yum!), and an Indian restaurant in the Soo.

The Polish place also had homemade polish sausage. Also delicious!

cheese is bland and potatoes are bland. they must have put a ton of seasoning in it.

San Francisco is a melting pot, and the Richmond district, where I

I usually get it without onions.

The only Dennys we have in town (that I've found) is attached to a truck stop and their prices are WAY out of line. We went there the other night and will NOT be going back there again.

Not sure if you'd call this the "American version", but go to Denny's and get an order of fries "covered and smothered". By default it's with the white gravy, but you could ask for brown gravy. It's that with cheese and onions. I usually get it without onions.

I like Denny's, though the one that was nearest me closed years ago. There are still a couple in the metro area where I am though.

I've had 4 bad experiences at Deny's here in Utah, I don't go there at all.
The closest Deny's to me shut down recently.

The last time I went into a Denny's was approx 45 years ago with my first wife. We were eating while she filled out a job app to work there. The manager was sitting at the table with us talking about the job. I was sitting across the table from my wife watching a 1" roach crawl on her.

That was my last trip to Denny's...

Normally I don't let one bad experience ruin the whole thing for me. I've been to Denny's plenty of times and have always enjoyed it and haven't noticed cockroaches or anything.

That can happen anywhere. I've gotten
food poisoning from McDonald's, among
other places. I wouldn't say stay away
from all Denny's because one guy got
sick once ;).
