I'm looking at AT&T fiber, and I'm curious as to other fiber users what your experience has been.

anybody that does anything in your house is a third party that your provider uses. it varies by area. att techs handle the outside to your box on your house.

My experience with fiber so far is this, not ATT, Comcast. We just had it ran up our street last month for the first time.

They installed the box on a pole along my property, went underground with the cable to the next pole and installed the underground vault to distribute the fiber, currently my house is at the end of the line, but they put enough cable in case I sold my property and sub-divided it.

The problem is, they should have put the box on the pole where they installed the vault, not the one prior.

Now they had to connect to the pole next to my driveway and lay the fiber on the ground, running parallel to the road to the next pole and lay it across my yard to the house. So now i have about 150 feet of fiber across the front of my house and across my yard.

Still waiting for them to bury it. and my utilities are also underground. which means, they will show up and say they need to flag the utilities and will be another week behind.

call the number and have it flagged for 'free'. also the techs have
access to all the plans that show where everything is buried.

That brings up another funny story. When the "worker" came out to see what the problem was. he was reading the plans upside down. My wife had to orientate him. His "plans" had the wires running accross the street where there is a burnt down house. We were watching them install the wires all week from our porch.

Good Idea to call 811 tommorow and get a head start.

that's kinda hard to do because it shows the roads and houses and then the different layers of the utilities.
